During lockdown we all missed human interaction. For this reason I tried to find a way to communicate without the filter of social networks. Which is the best place to get in touch while you are isolated? The balcony. Bålcönia is an analog network to connect with your neighbours directly but in a safe way. It works like a funicular. You can use it to share whatever you want with your neighbour: a bottle of wine, a book, toilet paper. It’s easy: throwing a string attached to a soft weight over to your neighbour, it is then fixed to both balconies. This project can cheer people up during quarantine, and allows them to exchange goods afterwards, too.
