Alessia Maria Concetta Carbonara; Working on a series of mutilations (series, 2022); installation of approximately 100 x 70 x 110; chair, trestles, wooden board, ten wooden spinning tops, saw, saw dust.

In your own personal space, where you come to terms with yourself, there is a scenario of self-sabotage.

The spinning top, as a symbol of balance and stability, through its movement is able to stand up on a fine tip. The work suggests the presence of a person mutilating a series of spinning tops, an object which would have the ability of doing something quite unique, but is deprived of the possibility of doing so.

The production of the spinning tops was commissioned to a carpentry of Val di Fiemme, the artist’s place of origin. The production through a craftsman leads to an unrepeatable uniqueness of the individual object.
