Design a Tree – Raske
BA Design Warm-Up – Foundation Course
2021
semester
During our design a tree project we investigated trees as systems and almost perfect machines. After a first part of research, we were asked to reflect on what we have learned from trees and how do they work, to design a new product. We finally came up with the design of Raske, a system of swift boxes, which faces the problem of providing nests to these very important animals. Just like trees do, our boxes provide shelter to swifts, as well as adapting to the shape of the wall they are going to hang on, just like trees adapt to the environment they grow up in. Their shape is designed to be easily placed in urban environments and it is applicable to different kinds of buildings.
