RIFLETTITI plays on the word reflection (riflessione in italian) in a physical and metaphorical sense, and it’s materialized through a series of graphics that represent the idea. Our goal is to push the spectators to question themselves regarding the urgent worldspread issue of waste.
RIFLETTITI takes form as a series of poster templates in order to tackle multiple social aspects related to waste as a macro-issue in contemporary everyday life. The main goal is to make people aware of the choices in their daily lives that they could make to lead an eco-sustainable lifestyle. The posters are placed in different strategic spots in Bolzano according to the different aspects highlighted in each of them, such as food, plastic, and clothing waste. RIFLETTITI research process led to some shocking facts worth to be shared through the posters. Every European citizen wastes 30 kg of food1 every year and with it 173 kg of plastic2 ends up in the environment. In fact, 37% of all food sold is wrapped in plastic. Between 2004 and 2014, household food waste in the EU doubled to around 30 million tonnes per year. And plastic packaging waste has increased by 50% in the same period. Fast fashion, because of it’s short life a sort of “disposable” clothing3, is responsible for 10% of carbon dioxide emissions and also 20% of global water waste. RIFLETTITI has the aim to develop within time, to spread the ideas as wirde as possible. The way we live has to change, and we have to start as soon as possible.
