Il silenzio ha una voce che, da troppo tempo, è stata repressa o sovrastata da altre.

Tacet – Trattatello sul silenzio è una raccolta di definizioni, idee ed esperienze delle numerose sfaccettature che compongono l’entità del silenzio, in particolare definite dalla sua dimensione verticale, cioè incentrata sull’ascolto. Con l’ausilio di riferimenti storici e contemporanei, viene ripercorsa la storia ed elencate alcune delle numerose pratiche e dei contesti di cui questo delicato elemento ne è il protagonista, con l’intento di dimostrare come il silenzio sia, prima di tutto, possibilità di comunicazione.

L’obiettivo è quello di restituire al silenzio un’accezione positiva, incentivando le persone a prestare attenzione a questo componente fugace, ma quasi sempre presente, anche se declinato in modi differenti. Il suo apprezzamento, o il suo elogio, sono strettamente soggettivi. Tuttavia, forse, la nostra società di iper-sollecitazioni informative e visive, ha proprio bisogno di fermarsi e di ascoltare qualcosa che non sia puramente rumore.

Come ripetutamente annunciato in questo testo, il silenzio è comunicazione, contemplazione, origine, espressione, musica, cinema, scrittura. Il silenzio non esiste, finché ci ostiniamo a definirlo come mancanza di qualcosa, mancanza di suono. Il silenzio è pieno e ha una voce tutt’altro che silenziosa, che altro non aspettava, se non qualcuno che imparasse nuovamente ad ascoltarla.

Tacet – Trattatello sul silenzio is a collection of definitions, ideas and experiences of the many facets that make up the entity of silence, in particular defined by its vertical dimension, meaning focused on listening. With the aid of historical and contemporary references, the history is retraced and some of the many practices and contexts in which this delicate element is the protagonist are listed, aiming to demonstrate how silence is, first and foremost, a possibility of communication.

The purpose is to restore a positive connotation to silence, encouraging people to pay attention to this fleeting but almost always present component, even if declined in different ways. Its appreciation, or praise, is strictly subjective. However, perhaps our society of informational and visual hyper-solicitation does indeed need to stop and listen to something that is not purely noise.

As repeatedly announced in this text, silence is communication, contemplation, origin, expression, music, cinema, writing. Silence does not exist, as long as we insist on defining it as a lack of something, a lack of sound. Silence is full and has a voice that is anything but silent, waiting for nothing but someone to learn how to listen to it anew.

Mit Hilfe historischer und zeitgenössischer Bezüge wird die Geschichte zurückverfolgt und es werden einige der zahlreichen Praxen und Kontexte aufgelistet, in denen dieses feine Element die Hauptrolle spielt, um zu zeigen, wie Stille vor allem eine Möglichkeit der Kommunikation ist.
