The Pink Pavilion
BA Major Design
BA Practice Based Course
Winter semester
In the centre of the city of Bolzano, not far away from the Talvera river, there is a building that we dealt with throughout semester. The building is currently empty and unused and its plaster has a tinge of pink. We decided to call it “The Pink Pavilion“ and started thinking what it could become.
We decided that it should be used for cultural purposes, including exhibiting. But our “Pink Pavilion” should not be what Brian O’ Doherty, in his scathing critique called a white cube (1976). How will “The Pink Pavilion” manage to become a landmark in the cultural landscape of the city of Bolzano?
We only received the coordinates to find the building, and when we got there we realised we couldn’t even get close…
