VIBO. Riappropriarsi dello spazio.

VIBO è una famiglia di sedute da esterni che mira alla riappropriazione di alcuni spazi presenti nel quartiere Casanova di Bolzano che non vengono utilizzati/abitati; spesso l’inutilizzo di questi spazi sono riconducibili alla mancanza di un incentivo all’appropriazione anche solo temporanea. Questa famiglia di oggetti vuole fungere da attivatore del processo di riappropriazione. Per innescare tale processo è necessario che l’oggetto presenti un certo potenziale accomodante e che sia legato ad una pratica. Per questo progetto è stato pensato di legare la riappropriazione alla pratica del “vibare”, un neologismo ricavato dall’inglese legato al “creare atmosfera” in un contesto ricreativo. Dal momento che tale pratica contiene al suo interno molteplici “sotto pratiche”, o che il concetto di “vibare” può essere interpretato in maniere diverse, anche gli oggetti devono restituire un’apertura a più scenari e interpretazioni dell’oggetto stesso. In risposta a tale esigenza, le sedute si presentano come oggetti “insapore”, cioè oggetti che racchiudono vari scenari che si manifestano con la libera interpretazione dell’utente. VIBO comprende tre elementi che si possono disporre a proprio piacimento nello spazio in modo da dare la possibilità di crearsi la propria “bolla abitativa”; in più, l’altezza del piano d’appoggio vuole richiamare il “sedersi a terra” che, in un certo senso, rappresenta una seduta “primitiva” che racchiude in sé il concetto di appropriazione e insediamento. La seduta bassa implica una forma di “raccoglimento” e restituisce intimità.

VIBO. Re-appropriation of space

VIBO is a family of outdoor seating that aims to re-appropriate certain spaces in the Casanova quarter of Bolzano that are unused/inhabited; often the unused nature of these spaces can be attributed to the lack of an incentive for even temporary appropriation. This family of objects is intended to act as an activator of the re-appropriation process. To start this process, it is necessary that the object has a kind of accommodating potential and should be linked to a practice. For this project, the idea was to link re-appropriation to the practice of ‘vibing’, a neologism related to ‘creating atmosphere’ in a recreational context. Since this practice contains within it multiple ‘sub-practices’, or that the concept of ‘vibing’ can be interpreted in different ways, the objects must also be open to multiple scenarios and interpretations of the object itself. In response to this need, the seats are presented as ‘tasteless’ objects, i.e. objects that contain various scenarios that manifest themselves with the user’s free interpretation. VIBO comprises three elements that can be arranged at will in the space in such a way as to give the possibility of creating one’s own ” inhabitative bubble”; in addition, the height of the seating surface is intended to recall “sitting on the ground” which, in a manner of speaking, represents “primitive” seating that encapsulates the concept of appropriation and settlement. Low seating implies a form of gathering and restores intimacy.

VIBO. Wiederaneignung von Raum

VIBO ist eine Familie an Sitzgelegenheiten für den Außenbereich, deren Ziel es ist, sich bestimmte ungenutzte und unbewohnte Räume im Bozner Stadtteil Casanova wieder anzueignen. Oft ist der ungenutzte Charakter dieser Räume darauf zurückzuführen, dass es keinen Anreiz für eine auch nur vorübergehende Aneignung gibt. Diese Objekserie soll als Aktivator für den Prozess der Wiederaneignung dienen. Um dies Prozess auszulösen, ist es notwendig, dass das Objekt ein gewisses Aneignungspotenzial aufweist und mit einer Praxis verbunden ist. Die Projektidee besteht darin, die Wiederaneignung mit der Praxis des “Vibing” zu verbinden, einer aus dem Englischen stammenden Wortschöpfung, die sich auf das “Schaffen von Atmosphäre” in einem Freizeitkontext bezieht. Da diese Praxis mehrere “Unterpraktiken” beinhaltet oder das Konzept des “Vibing” auf verschiedene Weise interpretiert werden kann, müssen die Objekte für mehrere Szenarien und Interpretationen offen sein. Als Antwort auf dieses Bedürfnis werden die Sitzgelegenheitenals “geschmacklose” Objekte präsentiert, die sich durch die freie Interpretation des Benutzers manifestiert werden können. VIBO besteht aus drei Elementen, die nach Belieben im Raum angeordnet werden können, sodass die Möglichkeit besteht, eine eigene “Wohnblase” zu schaffen; die Höhe der Sitzfläche soll außerdem an das “Sitzen auf dem Boden” erinnern, was in gewissem Sinne ein “primitives” Sitzen darstellt, welches das Konzept der Aneignung und Besiedlung umfasst. Das niedrige Sitzen impliziert eine Form der “Erinnerung” und stellt die Intimität wieder her.
