Design Classic – Tamagotchi (1996)

The original Tamagotchi was the first Tamagotchi toy produced. It was released in Japan on November 23, 1996 by Bandai. The toy’s concept was developed by Akihiro Yokoi, while character design was originally done by Yoko Kuroyanagi. Bob Nenninger was then charged with redesigning international style characters. The pitch has been imagined as a key chain to emulate a pocket watch.
