Design meets Handicap

WERK

Werk is a wood log holder in wickerwork. It is created to facilitate the transport of logs to the fireplace and to create order. It consists of a wooden base and a bag-like shape, open at the sides, which allows the transport of logs of different sizes. The flexibility of this material allows the sides to close slightly around the logs once the object is grasped. Werk can also be considered as an aesthetic object, to embellish the fireplace. Made for the wicker workshop in Prad, this object takes tradition and projects it towards innovation. There are very few people continuing this tradition, therefore the local craftsmanship is a central element of the project. Werk is functional but also very aesthetic, a symbol of tradition into a piece of design.

FRUITY

Fruity is a wooden fruit bowl. It allows order and organization of the fruits in your home. Fruity is similar to a wooden basket, a simple and smart object. The innovation is the divider in the middle, which is good for separating some types of fruit that should not stay together for better storage (like apples with bananas). In addition, the divider could also stand as a handle for carrying the object easily. What is also interesting about this project is the steps to create it: everything is proportional, 10 mm thick, and made with wooden battens. This is very important for the people with disabilities in the workshop of Latsch. Fruity is elegant but functional, easy to produce, and an object that everyone needs.

EXPLOSION

Explosion is a collection of painted ceramic coasters. The project is created for the painting workshop in Prad, especially for giving a function to the already existing ceramic tiles that they paint. Explosion consists of six ceramic coasters, with a sheet of cork paper, to give more stability. In addition, there is a wooden coaster holder to collect the coasters and there is also a label to explain the project and something more about the workshop and the people there.  The main feature is that each person in the workshop can express themselves through their different painting styles, like an explosion of colors. For me, it was important to highlight the individuality of every collection that can be created. Explosion is proof that design with simplicity can be really meaningful and beautiful.
