“Tutto”, “Noia” and “Nulla” is a collection of books which analyses the topic of boredom. In order to design this project we exposed our peculiar interpretation of the topic: if a man is in a state of boredom, he could potentially do everything but he is capable of doing nothing, staying in this unsolvable stagnating state. The central book “Noia” is a theoretical book, containing an essay regarding the origins of the concept of Boredom in Philosophy and Literature, presenting themes from Stoicism to contemporary literature and filmography.  The other two volumes are photographical books, representing two opposite “introspective journeys”: one with the tendency towards nothing and the other towards everything. “Tutto” shows a collection of highly patinated pictures of object. Every time that a page is turned a different object appears, making the heap progressively grow. All of these are the “object of boredom”, everything that a man might desire to use in order to escape the unbearable tedium. However, in the end, the grown amount of things appears to the eye as an unanimous mixture, out of which nothing can be picked, the state of Boredom cannot be overcome. “Nulla”, in contrast, focuses on the time of complete inactivity and torpor. We decided to show this attitude with a progression of post-produced pictures. We depicted a wide range of different “position of boredom”, with the aim of capturing the essence of inaction. These have been rotated and reflected, creating an illusionary effect reminding Roschach stains, a further underlining of the idea of introspection.
