Murmur – The voice of marble

“Murmur – The voice of marble” aims to give voice to a controversial material, extremely exploited, though destined to finish; extremely luxurious, though natural and raw; extremely static and silent, though representative of the voice of the mountain. Three different acoustic sculptures amplify the sound of the wind, second voice of the valley after the stone, allowing marble to express itself in all its communicative power. Using residues to build big volumes is for us a challenge standing against the exploitation of a limited resource, which is usually meant to be silent. If the wind is low, marble hums, when the wind is medium it speaks, if the wind is strong it screams. The site-specific nature of the project brings the excursionist through a historic and symbolic journey through Lasa. Following the path, you always have the old railway marble transport at sight, intertwining the stone and its voice, with the cultural heritage related to it and posing an accent on the social requalification of an historical milestone of the place.

“Murmur – The voice of marble” vuole dare voce a un materiale controverso, estremamente sfruttato, anche se destinato a finire; estremamente lussuoso, anche se naturale e grezzo; estremamente statico e silenzioso, anche se rappresentativo della voce della montagna. Tre diverse sculture acustiche amplificano il suono del vento, seconda voce della valle dopo la pietra, permettendo al marmo di esprimersi in tutta la sua forza comunicativa. Utilizzare i residui per costruire grandi volumi è per noi una sfida contro lo sfruttamento di una risorsa limitata, che di solito è destinata al silenzio. Se il vento è basso, il marmo sussurra, quando il vento è medio parla, se il vento è forte urla. La natura site-specific del progetto porta l’escursionista attraverso un viaggio storico e simbolico attraverso Lasa. Seguendo il percorso, si ha sempre sott’occhio la vecchia ferrovia che trasportava il marmo, intrecciando la pietra e la sua voce, con il patrimonio culturale ad essa collegato e ponendo l’accento sulla riqualificazione sociale di una pietra miliare storica del luogo.

Bei schwachem Wind flüstert die Murmel, bei mittlerem Wind spricht sie, bei starkem Wind schreit sie. Der ortsspezifische Charakter des Projekts nimmt den Besucher mit auf eine historische und symbolische Reise durch Laas. Auf dem Weg behält man die alte Eisenbahn im Auge, mit der der Marmor transportiert wurde, verwebt den Stein und seine Stimme mit dem kulturellen Erbe, das mit ihm verbunden ist, und unterstreicht die soziale Aufwertung eines historischen Wahrzeichens.
