This book is a collection of photographic portraits of ordinary people. More than portraits, they are invented faces, since almost all the faces have been obtained using a virtual generator that exploits artificial intelligence. They are realistic but simulated faces, forged by an algorithm based on the mixing of parts of images taken from the network.
The unspoken theme is that of the feebleness of the boundary between reality and technology, as well as the indeterminacy of the border between identity and homologation. Since these issues are more topical than ever, the intent of the project is to trigger a reflection in the reader through a catalogical and photographic interface. There is neither documentation nor research, but the pure succession of artificially generated images, alternated with real faces. The critical attitude of this collection is to demonstrate that today the themes of identity and the uniqueness of the human being have become more complex and deserve a deeper investigation. The collection of information on the net allows for infinite resources to be combined to create new personalities and new realities; the creative force of man can be replaced by the random and combinatorial force of computers. This is a new and contemporary tendency.
