What is good entrance lighting and how can I best illuminate an entrance without harming our environment?

Entrance lighting is often very different in size and appearance and often has different functions or goals. However, they have one thing in common, they must withstand the environmental conditions and thus be robust. Entrance lights play an important role in the design of buildings and the safety of people. However, they can also contribute to light pollution if not properly designed or used. For this reason, it is essential that measures are taken to minimize light pollution when designing and installing entrance lighting. Measures such as choosing the right light sources or even targeting the luminaires to the entrance area. Therefore, through conscious design and the use of appropriate technologies, entrance lighting can be created that is both aesthetically pleasing and environmentally friendly. I pursued this design goal with my Canopy NØPOCA.

NØPOCA is a canopy with an integrated lighting system that serves as entrance lighting at night and protection from other environmental elements during the day. It protects the environment from light pollution at night and us from the environment during the day.
