This cloche was conceived to make the most out of glass’ inherent stable structure. The self sustaining shape of the arc makes any additional support structure obsolete, as well as the inclusion of any other material, other than glass and a glue. Its’ size perfectly fits four large egg-cartons (of 10 eggs), which are commonly used seedling containers. In order to protect the young plants from burning during the midday, a gradient of colored glass or sanded surface, is added from top to bottom. This protects the plants from the most critical light intensity and still allows light to seep through from other angles.

The curvature of the glass also serves to prevent the accumulation of condensation on the glass surface, as well as even breaking of light. Due to the slope that is created, droplets of water, that gather through condensation, quickly pearl off along the side walls.

The ends of the cloche are fitted with glass plates, on top and bottom. This way air can be continuously circulated through the cloche, without excessive loss of warmth. The most outer glass plates retain warmth that accumulates on top, while the opening itself ensures steady airflow. The order and distance to one another, in which they are fixed is designed to allow the user to simultaneously use them as a carrying handles.
