Studio Moniker – Mark Wiens
The aim of the exercise that Studio Moniker proposed to us was to draw the portrait of Mark Wiens in group. The picture was drawn in turns and following strict rules. The algorithm that we created worked like this: the blue was only allowed to draw straight arrows, the red had to draw a circle starting from the end of the arrow, the green could only draw triangles with one side tangent to the circle, the yellow had to draw a line connecting the end of the blue arrow and the intersection point between the circle and the triangle and the arching had to be on the smallest portion of the circle. The activity was fun and more challenging than it seemed at the beginning. We learned to be patient and trust the process.
Studio Interact – Mark Wiens
“How can we disappear?” It’s now impossibile to make content completely disappear from the internet after it’s been posted. For example, when somebody posts a story on Instagram, that story “disappears” to the other users after 24h. But the story is not really deleted, it’s only moved to the archive section of the account. We used this idea as a base for our video. We created an interactive story where the user is supposed to try to “catch” the fast flashes where they can see a video running. It’s not easy to catch it and it easily becomes frustrating. After some tries the user usually manages to stop the video at the right time, only to see a screen of the archive. The pictures depict tasty food, but food that doesn’t exist anymore. While the food is really gone, the picture and memory will always be somewhere on the net.
